How I fought against Covid - Wave 2



Attention: This is my personal health information (PHI) experience that I wish to share with you with the intent that it may benefit someone directly or indirectly.

Few of you have been aware that me and my family were tested positive and fought against this Covid19 Wave-2. Even after being extremely cautious for more than a year, the deadly virus knocked our door on 16th April 2021. Everyone in my family got the symptoms with fever and severe body pain. Me and my sister were consulting our family doctors to understand the next step of action whether to home quarantine or get hospitalised . (Please ensure this is the situation where everyone should think step ahead). We realised that the carrier of the infection was one of our relative who had visited and stayed with us for a day and had minor symptoms of cold and cough which was taken lightly.

Given the current situation now it’s time to think proactively and not panic and be supportive to other members in family to make them comfortable and surround them with positive vibes which is the foremost thing. Mom and I had no symptoms after 2 days when we were following the home remedies and doctor prescribed medicines. We also doing the routine check on O2 saturation level and the temperature frequently.

The doctor whom we got consultation is the person who almost treated 3400 people in wave-1.

He also shared the few day-day symptoms which we had as he informed.

I am sharing below day-by-day symptoms.

Day 1_ Mild Fever, cough, and severe body pain.

Day 2_ Severe fever with shivering and body pain.

Day 3_ Me and Mom - No fever, Severe body pain with excess sweating, wife and sister had other additional symptoms (diarrhoea, severe fever, headache which is unbearable and nausea)

Day 4_ Body pain, excess sweating, and tiredness. For them mentioned day 3 continued.

Day 5_ Things started worsening from 5th day, me and mom are ok with the above symptoms which reduced day by day as advised by our doctor. For them it went worse as they went into panic situation and also weakness.

We made all things to go neutral but after 5th day things changed to next stage for them, they were to be hospitalized but my sister refused and stayed home with all home remedies but spouse with no option told to get hospitalized.

Doctor advised both of us to take CT to understand the infection level as we have infant to take care. CT report came my infection level was 9/25 normal and wife had 16/25 which is severe.

Day 6_ Hospitalized, things were little panic as we feared of the hospital environment.

Day 7_ Advised by doctor we have taken multiple tests and for her steroids were given to bring the situation to normal.

Day 8_ Things went little haywire as the adjacent room patient is also covid and her health is critical . In few hours, we heard she passed away which made my wife to panic more and become extremely anxious. I kept myself calm and cool with no fear on face but fear in real.

Day 9_ We were following the medications where cough and body pain with the infection level in lungs getting settled.

Day 10_ Mom and sister felt better and doing normal after following the below home remedy with doctor prescriptions.

Day 11_For us infection level dropped and the O2 saturation is normal after taking steroids and medications.

Day 12_ Discharged from hospital

Day 13-21_ we were following the quarantine guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not think you are back to normal life. There are many post effects after covid wave-2, where I am facing and observed from my family members and spoke to few of our colleagues also who has (tiredness, body shivering, Excess sweating, not feeling like eating, cough, unable to concentrate)


Let me also tell the home remedies and practices we followed.

Morning - Gargle with hot water pinch of turmeric and little rock salt to it.

To be consumed empty stomach — Boil the following with one glass of water and reduce it to half a glass. (Slice lemon, crated Ginger, Cumin seeds, pinch or turmeric, 5-10 Whole pepper)

Water steam — Water infused with Turmeric, eucalyptus oil/balm, neem, piece of lemon, cumin and cloves.

Morning Breakfast — Boiled egg and some light tiffen ( idiyappam, idli, dosa, appam) mostly to avoid wheat as I saw in one article.

Fruits — Amla with honey and lime/ Orange / Mosambi / Apple / Pomegranate Juices 

Lunch — Anything little spicy and more veggie and raw meat

Evening — May be green tea or black tea/Hot and Sour Vegetable Soup

Steam again (with all above mentioned remedies)

Dinner — Light and oil-less food

Sleep for about 7–8 hours at night.




My Recommendations:

1)      Do not panic if you are tested positive.

2)      Eat healthy foods. (protein rich)

3)      Do physical exercise, yoga and breathing exercise.

4)      Consume plenty of hot water minimum 3-4ltrs a day.

5)      Frequently steam inhale required.

6)      Proper rest and sleep 7-8hours.

7)      Don’t take medication as per your wish or seeing any social media- always consult your doctor before you decide on any intake.
